Dr. Patrick Hwu is President and CEO of Moffitt Cancer Center. He was previously the chair of the Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology in the Division of Cancer Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Hwu is a renowned tumor immunologist who has made important contributions in our understanding of how the immune system interacts with tumors and their environments. He has also specialized in the development of vaccine and adoptive T cell immunotherapies. Dr. Hwu has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and is the recipient the George and Barbara Bush Endowment for Innovative Cancer Research, among others. Dr. Hwu has been a member of CRI’s Scientific Advisory Council since 2013.
I have had the pleasure of contributing to a number of T-cell therapies, which I believe are just the beginning of this revolution in science.
