Dr. Ellen Puré is the chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the director of the Penn Vet Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Puré has discovered several novel ways through which our immune system regulates inflammation, and her work continues to focus on characterizing how various cells and molecules contribute to inflammation and fibrosis, especially in the context of chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer. In addition to her role as an associate director of CRI’s Scientific Advisory Council, Dr. Puré is also the chairwoman of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Review Committee.
CRI has a very long-term devotion to training young, new scientists, and the postdoctoral fellowship period is that period where they often make their greatest discoveries that launches their careers.
