Hans Schreiber, M.D., D.MSc., Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Pathology, the Cancer Research Center, and the Committees on Cancer Biology and Immunology at the University of Chicago. His expertise deals with, and his current work revolves around, gaining a better understanding of the mechanisms behind the interactions and relationship between the immune system and cancer cells. In addition to being a member of CRI’s Scientific Advisory Council, Dr. Schreiber serves on the Postdoctoral Fellowship Review Committee.
We combine immunology with genetics and biochemistry to search for cancer-specific changes in malignant cells. Identification of these changes may not only identify critical causative mechanisms but also new immunological and pharmacological targets that can be used to destroy the cancer.
