Peter Bloom has served on several public, private and non-profit boards. He is currently the chairman of two charitable boards, DonorsChoose and Peak Rescue, and is a board member of The Food Bank for New York City and PASSUR Aerospace. He joined the CRI Board of Trustees in 2005.
He was previously an Advisory Director at General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm, where he worked as a Managing Director for 15 years before retiring at the end of 2009. Since he joined the firm in 1995, Peter led global technology due diligence on prospective investments, provided technology and risk management assistance to CEO’s and senior management teams of portfolio companies, as well as guidance on emerging technology trends for GA, its stakeholders, and several private and public entities.
Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Bloom spent thirteen years at Salomon Brothers where he was most recently the managing director of the company’s U.S. Technology Division. He was a founding member of the BP Digital and Communications Technology Advisory Board and the New School for Social Research Technology Advisory Board. He is an active member of Business Executives for National Security and a consultant on security related technology issues as well as a member of the FCC Technical Advisory Council. In 1992, he was the recipient of the Achievement in Managing Information Technology Award, sponsored by Carnegie Mellon University and American Management Systems, for his work managing the technology implementation of distributed computing throughout Salomon Brothers.
Mr. Bloom graduated from Northwestern University in 1978 with a B.A. in computer studies and economics.
